The beads used in this test were purchased on amazon.com. They are called Czech Glass Beads.

Second Test

Beads with a Single Sheet of Inkjet Paper under Geiger Counter

The purpose of taking that measurement was to see how effecitively the paper really blocked the alpha emissions.

Power of Radiation to Penetrate

For this test, a lead-shielded film bag was placed on top of the tray holding the beads. It is designed for safe transport of film and other sensitive media. The two readings are similar.
